Water Sports Facility Update

Zoe reported back from a Water Sports Facility meeting and there is now a big push to get a shared facility happening at the Marina Basin. The council is looking at converting the Totally Boating building and turning it into a shared facility with a meeting room, gym, showers and changing facilities and a separate changing rooms for kids. They are trying to fit us all in.

Where the waka storage will be is still under consideration. A covered area where our sheds currently sit is being considered with creative ways to store the waka for both Maitahi and Whakatū to reduce the footprint. Plans have gone to an engineer for consideration. The boat storage area in front of Totally Boating is being considered for extra car parking and they are considering closing the road to create a safer access way to the building.

Boat ramp changes

The council is proposing changes to the boat ramp by widening it and adding floating docks, with a floating pontoon to meet up and extend the current floating pontoon the rowing club uses to launch their boats.
