We were blessed with beautiful weather for the final Winter Series race at Tahunanui. That rounded off this year’s edition and once again the races did what they were designed to do : bring together the Te Tauihu waka ama family for good times on and off the water. Thanks to all the paddlers and club movers and shakers who get things going and maintain their enthusiasm despite the weather obstacles.
The final event was a wee bit closer than I thought on the day :
MWAC – 6,250
MOCC – 6,000
OWAC – 1,600
TTWAC – 250
That meant MWAC were the deserved Series winners :
MWAC – 19,550
MOCC – 13,050
OWAC – 6,700
TTWAC – 250
Special mention to Waikawa who copped most of the bad weather in their attempt to get us over to Picton. Hope to see Mike, Anisha and the rest of the gang before too long.
Its never too early or too late to start paddling waka ama
