Thanks to all Maitahi club members who made it over the hill to Onetahua Waka Club, 10-11 June. Fabulous weather for some great paddling out around the shag colonies at Tata Islands, through to the mussel farms in Wainui Bay.
Delicious curry night with the ever generous people of Golden Bay. Then we paddled out in the dark into the deep blue to watch the sun rise and the full moon set for Matariki – magical times.
Onetahua were delighted to host Maitahi and strengthen the bonds we share of paddling waka and being on the water.
This was part of the Top of the South winter Quad series with Waikawa, Whakatu, Maitahi, Motueka and Onetahua waka ama clubs vying for this beautiful trophy.
