The great news for all involved is that next month’s LDN in Whitianga is still scheduled to go ahead.
We have a small but very, very committed group heading up. I hope I haven’t missed anyone out but best wishes to Glenn Hardinge, Jan Blythe and Carol Hunter. Unnoticed by many, they have been putting hours of hard training in.
I get exhausted just reading Glenn’s invites to get in the water with him and he has put the work in you would expect of the reigning Master 60 OC1 champion (plus a bit more, being Glenn). He is also hoping to paddle in a Hastings based crew organised by our friend John Tangaere who steered Krakenz at Sprint Nationals.
Carol and Jan are both in contention for M70 places with a crew that has realistic chances of qualifying for the Long Distance World Championships in Samoa later this year. Only one crew (and one singles paddler from V1) makes qualification in each age division so it’s a clinical and brutal system. Best of luck and look forward to watching you at Worlds !
For anyone interested you can find the LDN panui on the WANZ event page.
