Waka Te Tasman 2021 – Cancelled

Friday 12th-Saturday 13th November 2021  Kaiteretere

The biggest race on the South Island right on our doorstep in beautiful Kaiteretere, hosted by our friends at Motueka Waka Ama Club. As well as attracting some top class crews and individuals from around the country, WTT also offers novice racers a chance to get out there and enjoy some friendly competition. The atmosphere is always great and the conditions can be challenging and fun (or flat calm and still fun). There are races in various age categories for rangatahi, wāhine and tāne.

If you are a paddler looking for a crew to race in please email Tony Davies on [email protected]

Full information can be found on the WANZ race calendar page by clicking here.

The first pānui/Race Pack is downloadable here.

Race Entry

Please note that you can only enter Waka te Tasman via Maitahi OCC. This is a stipulation of the race organisers.

Please refer to the entry information on the pānui for race categories. The cost per person is $50 for adult paddlers and $30 for rangatahi. Please add $5 towing fee per crew member.

If you paddle singles or doubles on Friday and are also in a crew race on Saturday, the cost remains the same. The entry fee includes dinner at the prize-giving at the Beached Whale.

To enter you will need to pay your race fees to the Maitahi OCC account. Please note that it is the responsibility of the Team Manager to collect individual crew money and make a single payment :

SBS Bank 03 1355 0682383 00

  • Crew name
  • List of crew members (please refer to pānui for info on maximum crew numbers in OC6 races)
