A great turn out and a delicious BBQ was enough to divert attention from a chilly wind at the marina, as the club enjoyed its first steerers’ meeting for over a year.
Stuart Whitehouse, our new Harbourmaster, came along to meet us and share some information on what he is looking out for in the busy harbour. Not surprisingly his focus is on the shipping lanes, particularly the Cut. He praised the excellent systems the club has in place, which is testament to previous committees and safety officers, and we had a few new ideas to share such as free VHF licence courses and Stuart coming along to our next Coastguard towing session.
There was some discussion over huli protocols and a few other bits and bobs. Minutes will be published shortly with full details. Thanks to everyone who attended and for the respectful conversations and exchanges of ideas. We don’t always agree on details but we are all heading in the same direction.
