Tahunanui Beach Day – Saturday 26th 09.00

The weather is looking good at the moment for a final club Summer outing to Tahunanui beach on Saturday. The aim is to have two W6, at least one double and some singles on the shore for people to enjoy.

The two W6 will be dropped at the beach by the NMW and Hine Tahi crews, some of whom will hopefully also stay on and enjoy the activities. We will need some bodies to help return the 2 waka to the marina, so if you can do that it would be a great help.

The activities can include :

Ama flying in all the waka with the inevitable huli practice that follows

A trip to Haulashore for some of the Nga Iti Tangata tamariki

A chance for people to have a go in a single or double

Maybe a couple of races along the buoy line

Everyone in the club has been invited on Teamer so if you can respond to give us an idea of numbers that would be great but feel free to turn up anyway and bring any friends or family who want to have a go.

Bring some warm paddling gear as you will almost certainly get wet and some dry clothes to change into. If you can share some car drops between marina and beach to allow you to help get the 2 sixes back to the marina that would be great. Look forward to seeing everyone and keep your fingers crossed that the forecast holds good.

Its never too early or too late to start paddling waka ama

We always welcome new members to the Maitahi Outrigger Canoe Club.
We have social and racing waka ama crews catering for a wide variety of ages and abilities.
