A big “Thank you” to Network Tasman Charity Trust, who have awarded us $800 towards the cost of set of spare kiato for our waka.
The kiato are the ‘bits of laminated wood’ that join the ama (outrigger) to the waka. They need constant maintenance as they are exposed to sea, salt and air and need to be kept in tip top conditions. Having a spare set means that we can maintain the kiato without having to take a waka out of action!!! 🙂
Its never too early or too late to start paddling waka ama
We always welcome new members to the Maitahi Outrigger Canoe Club.
We have social and racing waka ama crews catering for a wide variety of ages and abilities.
