TEHA Dinner

With a limit of 100 MVP people in any defined space, the TEHA dinner is going to look a bit different this year. With more than 200 entrants and guests we will be splitting the contingent into three separate dining areas. Two of them will be separate areas within Rotoiti Hall : the main hall will seat around 90 people and the foyer/entrance rooms around 80. The rest will either be dining ‘al fresco’ outside the hall if weather conditions allow, or at Red Deer Lodge hall. As event hosts, MOCC paddlers can expect to be within the last group.

At Rotoiti Hall there will be separate entrance and exit routes for each group and the two interior areas have no direct shared airflow, as per CPF regulations. We are using our usual caterers, Kudos, but the meals will be served in bio-degradable biocane boxes and be placed on tables before guests arrive. Rather than our usual unallocated seating we will have the tables set up as club areas to further encourage small bubbles. It’s not the free flow mingling we normally enjoy but these are not normal times.

The change to individual boxed meals has one other important consequence. If any entrants do not turn up for the dinner, the $25 box of great food will sit completely wasted. We don’t do discounts on entry fees for those not attending the dinner but there are always a reasonable number of ‘no shows’ at the dinner ( I was one of them last year).

We will be ordering the meals within the next week, so if you already know you will not be staying on for the meal PLEASE let me know as soon as possible. It means your $25 will go into club funds for new radios, paddles etc etc rather than being paid to Kudos for a meal that will be thrown away.
