Picton to Picton Race 2022

Normally the Anakiwa to Picton Race but flood damage has forced changes for 2022. Please see the information below from race organisers. Entry forms and information can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.

Picton Rowing Club would like to extend an invitation to all interested rowers and supporters to participate in a long distance paddle on Sunday 16th October 2022.

Due to the recent flooding and potential difficulty with road access, we have taken the decision to run the event this year from the Picton foreshore to the Snout and back. A distance of 12km return.
The event is limited to fours, quads, eights and octuples. There will also be a separate category for coastal quads and waka ama. The course may be shortened in the event of bad weather.
Mike Beech is coordinating the Wakas at this end and we have asked that you manage your health and safety independently, following our safety plan. We will have 7 safety boats, one provided by Mike Beech.
We will confirm all safety plans shortly and liaise with you. A safety briefing will be held at 8am at QCYC and we will corace start time at that point as this is dependent on ferries and whether they are running to time. Crews should be ready to launch at 8.30am, with expected start from 9am.

Entry fees are $20 per person (excluding coxswains) to cover the staging of the event and includes the barbecue and beverages at the prize giving.

Race information and entry forms are enclosed. As this will be a handicapped start, please indicate roughly how long you think your crews will take to complete the 12km course on the entry form. Crews will be set off at intervals with slowest crews first.
